This year has been full of bizarre incidents. We’ve seen passengers go rogue, fights break up and we’ve also seen political arguments flare up. However, this latest incident is actually creepy. A scorpion stung a woman aboard a United flight 1554 from San Francisco to Atlanta.

Scorpion aboard United flight

As per the report by TMZ, the incident happened on Friday. The scorpion fell from the woman’s leg after stinging her multiple times.

This report on USA today confirms the incident, with a statement from United Airlines as well.

“After learning that one of our customers on flight 1554 from San Francisco to Atlanta was stung during flight, our crew responded immediately and consulted with a MedLink physician on the ground who provided medical guidance,” – United Spokesperson Natalie Noonan

As soon as the plane landed in Atlanta, paramedics rushed onboard to help the woman.

Surprisingly, this is not the first time such an incident has happened on an United flight. Back in 2017, a scorpion stung a man aboard United flight. He was traveling from Houston to Calgary.

The venomous creature fell from an overhead bin and landed on Richard Bell’s hair as he was eating lunch Sunday in his business class seat, according to his wife Linda. My husband felt something in his hair. He grabbed it out of his hair and it fell onto his dinner table. As he was grabbing it by the tail it stung him,” she told CNN.

The Pundit’s Mantra

While I’m glad that the woman is okay, this surely is a reminder of what can always go wrong while in flight. While getting stung by an insect may be always top of mind, it’s always prudent to look around and ensure the safety and cleanliness of the surroundings, irrespective of where you’re seated.
