London-based Virgin Hotels opened their first hotel in Chicago back in 2015 to much fanfare, and the property gets consistently high marks.
On Virgin’s website they have a “where we are going” map showing all the confirmed locations that Virgin Hotels are coming to next, and in mid-June last year San Francisco was added.
Today a tweet from Virgin Hotels caught my eye. It announced an update that the new Virgin Hotels San Francisco property would be opening in….Summer 2017!

Virgin Hotels San Francisco will be located at 250 Fourth Street which is in a good location South of Market, close to Yerba Buena Gardens. Here’s a map look via Google Maps to get your bearings in the city –
The brand-new property being built in San Francisco will have 196 Chambers (what they call their guest rooms) and Grand Chamber Suites, a coffee shop, restaurants and bars including the brand’s flagship – The Commons Club.
Their website also says that there will be a rooftop bar. That should be interesting given how windy it can be, but on warm clear days could be a nice hangout.
I’m looking forward to seeing a new Virgin Hotels property open, especially one in San Francisco. I haven’t stayed at Virgin Hotels Chicago yet, but would definitely like to try out the San Francisco property once they open.
Have you stayed at Virgin Hotels and if so, what did you think?
