Doctor of Credit (H/T) reported yesterday that the Chase Ink Business Preferred has a 160,000-Point targeted offer! This offer is the biggest sign-up bonus I have ever seen from a Chase card that earns Ultimate Rewards (UR) points!
This huge offer comes in two parts. The first lets you earn 80,000 UR points by spending $5,000 within the first three months. The first part itself is basically the Ink Business Preferred Card’s normal sign-up bonus. But the second part is where it gets sweet for big spenders. You can earn another 80,000 UR points by spending a total of $50,000 within the first six months. The total of $50,000 includes the $5,000 from the first part. That’s a total of 160,000 possible UR points for $50,000!
However, this offer is targeted, and you can only receive it via “snail mail”. There are no online links to this offer. Be sure to check your junk mail because you can strike points and miles gold for your business.
Overview of the Chase Ink Business Preferred
The Chase Ink Business Preferred is one of my favorite business credit cards, even though it has a $95 annual fee (NOT waived the first year). Not only does it come with a great sign-up bonus (targeted or not). But it’s also a generous earner, it comes with great perks, and it comes with a nice range of transfer partners.
The Ink Business Preferred earns 3x UR points within the following categories:
- Cable & TV Services
- General Travel
- Internet Services
- Phone Services
- Social Media and Search Engine Advertising Purchases
There is a limit of $150,000 per year across all categories. That means you can earn up to 450,000 UR points per year if you spend within the categories. Plus, it earns one point per dollar for non-bonus spend.
Furthermore, the Ink Business Preferred comes with some of the best travel insurances in the industry. These include Trip Delay, Baggage Delay, and Primary Car Rental Insurance. It also comes with cell phone insurance and no foreign transaction fees. One traveling incident could justify the card’s $95 annual fee.
I can understand offering a huge bonus like this one for two reasons: to both promote the Ink Business Preferred and to compete with American Express. Recently, the Amex Business Platinum Card had a 100,000-point offer. And the Amex Business Green Card had a 150,000-point offer like this one.
However, the Ink Business Preferred has a more modest annual fee than the Business Platinum Card. But it has much fewer benefits. And the Ink Business Preferred is a better card than the Business Green in every way. Both the Green and the Ink have the same annual fee. But the Ink Preferred is the better deal for big spenders.
I would take this offer if you are lucky enough to find it in your “snail mail”. If your business can spend $50,000 in six months, you will receive a plethora of UR points. But even if your business does not have that much in expenses, 80,000 UR points for $5,000 is still amazing! That is the normal sign-up bonus for this card and it’s also Chase’s largest among UR point-earning cards.
I have never seen Chase offer a bonus this high, targeted or not! Nonetheless, the Chase Ink Business Preferred is a winner for businesses that have big expenses within its 3x categories. Just be sure to look through your “snail mail” for this offer and don’t rush to throw your mail away.
