Deals We Like has just highlighted a great new American Express promotion available which offers a $50 credit when you spend $250 or more on a Westin stay between now and December 31, 2015. The $250 counts both room rate as well as food and drink at the hotel, so even if your nightly rate is less than $250 you still may be able to get the $50 credit.
Reservations must be made online through the official channel www.westin.com, via the Starwood mobile App or over the phone.
I did love my stay at the Westin Excelsior in Florence which you can read about here, but unfortunately the Amex deal is only valid at Westin properties in the US and US territories.
Unfortunately, the deal is also not valid at St. Regis, The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts, W Hotels, Le Méridien, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, Tribute Portfolio, Four Points by Sheraton, Aloft Hotels, and Element by Westin properties. You also cannot purchase gift cards for this promotion; it actually has to be a Westin stay or purchases like food & drink at the property.
However, this is a great deal for those who are planning to stay at a Westin in 2015. $50 back as a statement credit is nothing to sneeze at.
For those unfamiliar with Amex offers, if you have an American Express card new promotions are constantly being added in either your “Amex offers for you” tab or via Twitter. The “Amex offers for you” promotions vary by person, while the Twitter promotions are the same for everyone. The only catch is that enrollment is usually limited, so if you see one you like you should Tweet the hashtag or add the offer to your card as soon as you can to get in on the deal before the limit is reached.
Here’s how to see if your American Express card is offering the Westin deal –
Login to your American Express account. Click here for a handy link.
Once logged in, scroll all the way down to where it says “Amex Offers & Benefits”.
You can use the arrow on the right to scroll through your personalized offers.
Once you find one you like (such as the Westin offer), simply click the button that says “Add to Card”.
Details of the chosen promotion will pull up, and the offer will then be attached to that particular Amex card. When you book your stay and spend $250 using that Amex card, the $50 credit will show up on your billing statement within 90 days of the end of the promotion (12/31/15).
This is a great way to get some money back if you already have plans to stay at a Westin this year and haven’t booked yet (or can cancel without penalty and rebook). The offer is targeted (and not all of my cards got the offer) so not everyone will receive this promo, but the good thing about Amex offers is that even if you don’t get one, another good one will usually be coming along shortly!
