Even if you’re a workout fiend at home, it is often difficult to keep up the active routine on the road. After a long day of travel, meetings or just paperwork, sometimes a good meal and comfy couch or bed look too tempting and the sporty workout gear stays tucked in the suitcase.
To help travelers in their quest to stay healthy, Starwood’s Element Hotels has partnered with Fitbit to create a virtual walk around the world. Called “Walk the World with Element”, they’re motivating travelers to stay active be rewarding them with prizes!
Here’s how to participate –
Once logged, in, join Element’s Walk the World group. Your steps will be logged and you’ll be added as a participant to a virtual walk starting from the Element Vancouver Metrotown in Canada and continuing all the way to the Element Suzhou Science and Technology Town in China. That’s an average of 29 million total steps.
Along the way, four winners will be randomly selected around each weekday date after each goal is achieved from all participant entries. Here are the prizes –
Those winning Starpoints can redeem the at any of Starwood’s eleven brands. You can read more details about the contest on Element’s official contest page. You can also follow along by using #walktheworld via social media.
I think this is a great way for those with a Fitbit to get a little boost in their motivation, and for those who put their Fitbit away on weekdays when they travel. I myself have an Apple Watch and sometimes ignore the “call to stand up” on travel days away from home. Hopefully some readers will win a great prize and enjoy the exercise in the meantime.
