LoyaltyLobby reports that SPG is out with a new Select Member Exclusive promotion.
It appears that the promotion is good for stays between February 15 and May 15, 2017. While not everyone targeted will even get the same promo, LoyaltyLobby’s offer was for bonus points after every three stays (capped out at 9,000 bonus points). Others report getting similar bonus points, or double night credits offers. I eagerly entered my SPG number on the promotion page to see if I was eligible.
Sadly I got the following message that I was not –

I tried again with my husband’s SPG number, but alas he was not targeted for the promo either.
I wasn’t terribly disappointed as these Select Member Exclusive promotions can be seen occasionally throughout the year. They usually offer bonus points in tiers, depending on how many stays you accumulate within the promotion period. I’ve heard of the carrot for some people being free night awards, though I personally haven’t received any of those through one of these Select Member Exclusive promotions.
While I don’t have any insight as to why some people get a particular promotional offer and others don’t, since there are different offers throughout the year it stands to reason that the target group changes. For one promotion the target group might be those without status to encourage more stays, and another promotion might be targeting those who used to stay a lot but haven’t for a while and the offer is meant to entice them to return. In other words, if you aren’t eligible for one promotion it might be your turn next time.
