My name is MJ, and I’m a bit of a minimalist. I reviewed the Allett travel wallet a few years ago, and I have been using it ever since. Frankly, the lighter I travel, the happier I am. This applies to my wallets as well. I do not like super-sized wallets full of all manner of cards. I like to keep things simple and only travel with my “go-to” credit and loyalty cards.

I have carried every kind of travel wallet there is. Some so large they’d barely fit in my briefcase, others slightly less intrusive. My favorite has been my Allett wallet. The folks at Allett came across my review from 2014 and gifted me a Mule Passport Sleeve to try. The wallet was described as a “more minimalist design,” so my interest was immediately piqued. I’ve had the opportunity to test fly/cruise the Mule Passport Sleeve on a few trips. My verdict after 6 weeks? I like it. Let’s take a look.

Card Slots

I’ll admit that I was a little concerned that the wallet might be a little small for me based on first looks. But when I stocked the wallet with my most-used travel cards and passport, I quickly found that I really could carry what I needed. The card pull tab holds three cards comfortably, and you could probably fit a fourth. I only have one card in the front slot, but it could hold another if needed.

The Bottom Line

On first glance, I thought I’d try the Mule Passport Sleeve for a few weeks, then switch back to my old travel wallet. However, the Mule Passport Sleeve is a well-constructed travel wallet. It’s thoughtful touches like a mini pen, which comes in handy more often than I’d imagined, and pull tabs to make your cards and passport easily accessible are appreciated. After a cruise and a few business flights, I’m sold on it and will continue to use it as my travel wallet.

Pros

  • Minimalist design will save space in your briefcase or backpack.
  • Card slots and pull tabs are thoughtful ways to store cards and passport, but maintain slim design.
  • Well constructed.
  • Mini pen sometimes comes in handy in a pinch.
  • Offers RFID protection if that’s a concern for you.
  • Comes in four colors if you like to brighten things up a bit.

Cons

  • If you like to carry all of your loyalty cards with you at all times, this may not be the wallet for you.
