BACKGROUND:

After visiting the Wing Lounge, I decided to check out the Pier before my Cathay Pacific flight to Auckland in business on the A350. For Cathay Pacific there’s a total of 4 business class lounges at Hong Kong Airport, that being The Wing, The Pier, The Bridge and The Deck. I’m glad I decided to stop by at the Pier because it was my favorite of the two I visited.

The Pier Business Class Lounge is located in Terminal 1 near gate 65. It’s open from 5:30 am to 12:30 am daily.

How to Gain Access:

  • 1) Travel in business class on a Cathay Pacific, Cathay Dragon, or an Oneworld carrier
  • 2) Marco Polo Diamond, Gold, and Silver members
  • 3) Cargo Clan Elite members departing on Cathay Pacific, Cathay Dragon, or Oneworld carrier flights
  • 4) Oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members departing on Cathay Pacific, Cathay Dragon, or Oneworld carrier flights.

The Pier:

The Pier is elegant in it’s design, with dark wooden tones. It’s less futuristic looking than the Wing, which is nice to see different themes in the lounge designs.

The lounge is essentially layed out like a long, large hallway. It starts with the Food Hall then the bar, a Noodle Bar, Teahouse and lastly showers and relaxation rooms at the end of the lounge.

Food Hall and Bar:

The food hall is one of the first rooms you’ll pass in the lounge. Here, options are plentiful, ranging from hot food, sandwiches, desserts, and fruits. There is also a nice little coffee cart in front of the food hall that serves a quick drink.

In comparison to the Wing, I really liked how the Pier had plenty of seating that was spread out, and didn’t feel as cramped as the Wing did.

Noodle Bar:

Like the Wing, the Pier business class lounge also offers the famous Noodle Bar. Here, you can get made to order noodles and steamed buns. I tried another wonton soup because I liked it so much at the Wing and it did not dissapoint. In this area, there are nice booths to sit in as well as a long communal style table.

Teahouse:

My favorite part of the Pier lounge is the Teahouse! It was a calm and relaxing area with a very impressive and detailed menu of a variety of teas and some nice desserts to complement.

I spent most of my time visiting the Pier at the teahouse and I wish I can go back!

Showers + Relaxation Room:

There are 14 shower suites for use here, and also a nice quiet relaxation room in the back. Additionally, the lounge now offers yoga and a meditation room!

The Verdict:

The Pier was definitely my favorite compared to the Wing as it was less crowded and it offered the Teahouse which I absolutely adored. It’s an amazing place to relax and recharge before a flight, and is one of my favorite lounges that I have ever visited.
