If you follow me on Twitter you probably saw my temper tantrum regarding American’s status challenge that you have to actually pay for to receive. Last week I kicked off a new project at work that would take me from PHL to LAX every week until September 2nd. There was no way I was going to spend the money to do an AA status challenge and I made my opinions known.

I might sound like a snob, but when my butt is going to be in an American Airlines plane for roughly 100 hours this summer, I didn’t like the idea of having to pay to get status, though I’d probably earn it anyway (but who wants to wait?!).

I digress…

About 4 or 5 hours after I went off on Twitter I received a targeted offer in my inbox. Coinkydink? Maybe.

As you can see, this offer was targeted specifically for people that work at a select group of corporate partners and my firm happens to be one.

What’s the offer?

Essentially you have three options to pick from, with each getting progressively more difficult to achieve.

Note that you will need a valid company e-mail address.

Bottom Line

Since I estimate I would easily achieve the Platinum challenge, I opted for that, especially since there is an opportunity to earn Executive Platinum. I’m pretty sure I’ll hit the 35,000 EQMs by the end of the challenge, but I wanted to at least get something in the mean time. I’ve already been able to redeem some 500-mile upgrades so the challenge has been well worth it.

In my opinion, the Exec Plat offer only makes sense for current Platinum status members.

The final day to register for this promotion is July 7, 2016.
