In 2009 the Nile Hilton in Cairo changed brands and was set to become a Ritz-Carlton. After political unrest slowed the renovation, the opening date shifted to 2013, and then again was pushed back. In June of 2014 it was announced that the open date was going to be late 2015. The finishing touches are being done now and now the Nile Ritz-Carlton Cairo is still on track to open at in Summer this year, 2015.

The property is located in between the Nile and desirable Tahrir Square. The hotel is also linked to the Cairo Opera House by Qasr El Nile Bridge.

The property will have 331 guest rooms of which 50 are suites. The Royal and Presidential Suites boast Nile views.

The Ritz-Carlton website doesn’t offer a lot of photos yet but a press release shows a view of the hotel from the water, which is at the top of this page.

There’s an Olympic sized swimming pool and 17 cabanas and a wellness spa. Reportedly there will be several restaurants onsite including those serving Italian, Arabian and Continental cuisine.

The Nile Ritz will be a Tier 2 property, requiring 40,000 Rewards points for a free night.

I look forward to seeing more from what promises to be an exciting property, and my fingers are crossed the opening date doesn’t get pushed back again!
