JetBlue has a new aircraft livery out there. The new JetBlue livery is meant to show off the blueprint of the aircraft. The airliner is painted blue from head to toe. The aircraft is an ERJ-190 and it is the airline’s 12th special livery aircraft. The aircraft is meant to celebrate the airline’s 17th anniversary later this month. Jetblue’s aircraft showcases three of the airlines hues of blue. The plane demonstrates many of the internal and hidden features that an airplane has. These range from the seats, to the nose radar. The airliner took two weeks to paint, one of the most complex paintjobs on a JetBlue plane. JetBlue plans on deploying this airplane throughout its network, starting off in Boston.

JetBlue in the News

JetBlue has been in the news the past few years. They offer the most legroom in coach on some of their aircraft (34” of pitch), and free and fast wifi. JetBlue is also known for offering free and unlimited snacks on flights. They are an airline mainly focused on the East Coast, but they have a limited network in the West Coast. The airline has one of the best business class products out there with Mint. Mint’s fully flat seats have 4 enclosed suites among them, and these are probably some of the best seats in the sky.

The airline has also been in the news recently for reducing service to Cuba. The airline has reduced frequencies and the size of their aircraft on their routes to the Caribbean island. This moves follows that of American Airlines, which recently announced similar cuts.

Landing Thoughts:

I have a special spot for JetBlue in my heart. When American dismantled their San Juan hub, JetBlue stepped in. They offer a solid product, with IFE, food and wifi across their fleet. The airline’s Mint class is probably the most coveted way to fly business, and they have successfully lowered prices on most of the Mint routes. JetBlue is probably the best example of a low-cost full service airline, and in my opinion offer a better product that Southwest. If the airline were able to expand its network to the West Coast it would be great. They have many interline agreements with various airlines, including Emirates. JetBlue is a quirky airline with a true blue personality. They are, alongside Virgin America (RIP) and Southwest, the cool kids in the US Airline block.
