South America’s LATAM is introducing new cabins as part of a US$400 million investment. These new seats will be rolled out over the next two years and are an improvement over the current offering.

Recent deliveries of the Boeing 787s and Airbus A350s will continue to have the current configuration. As you can see from one of my flight reviews here, it is still very comfortable.

New Cabins at LATAM

The oneworld carrier has statistics showing that 90% of business class passengers travel alone. This means the selection of new seats (seen at the top of this post), all with aisle access, should fit the demographic perfectly.

LATAM+ seats in economy class above feature 35″ of leg room, which is an improvement over standard economy. For long flights, it will provide more comfort than the usual.

Standard economy seats have 31 or 32″ pitch, which makes them suitable for the long haul flights the airline offers. A Boeing 767-300ER of LATAM Peru is the first to get the new seats, which will go out across the fleet from now.

Overall Thoughts

Every time I have flown LATAM, I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Cabin crew are very friendly and the meal service is always very good indeed. As the largest airline in South America, they are certainly worth flying.

Interestingly, you can fly them on shorter fifth freedom routes, such as Madrid to Frankfurt in Europe and Auckland to Sydney down in the Southern Hemisphere. Of course, their bread and butter is connecting South America to the world from their base in Santiago.

Have you flown with LATAM before? Perhaps you did when they were two separate airlines, Chile’s LAN and Brazil’s TAM? Thank you for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.
