When flying from London to Dublin on British Airways in Club Europe, you always get a meal. This is much better than in the United States, where you might get a cookie in First Class on flights after 8pm, which to me, is just not good enough.
Since I like to eat on board a flight, having a guaranteed meal is a big plus for me. Here’s a look at a typical one hour flight from London to Dublin in business class on BA.

After five hours spent waiting around in the Galleries Club lounges, I went down to the gate before boarding commenced. It was pleasantly divided up for the group boarding process.

Soon enough it was time to board and I was swiftly in my seat. Being an older aircraft, it still has the middle seat tray, something that adds a touch of class to the entire experience.
London to Dublin – Time To Eat!
Once everyone was on board, we received the safety demonstration and headed into the air. Quite quickly, since it’s only an hour in flight at best, the crew were handing out hot towels and getting on with the meal service.

There is a small starter, the main plate and a delicious dessert of some kind on offer. Bread is offered from the basket and I had Champagne as my drink of choice.

Naturally I ate everything in front of me. The meals are always delicious and quite enough food for such a short sector. For the rest of the flight, I enjoyed the views, before we landed in Dublin on time.
Overall Thoughts
Club Europe attracts a price premium over standard tickets, usually in excess of €100. Considering this gives you lounge access, two 32kg bags, plus all the on board amenities, it can be quite cost effective.
A little treat to start or end a trip is worthwhile to me, as a flight passes pleasantly quickly when you’re being served non-stop. As far as I am concerned, British Airways have got it right here.

Thank you. I agree, those Reward Flight Savers are the best! When I had oodles of Avios, dropping some on that was very easy. Nowadays I’m busily trying to fill my account, so I’m trying to redeem as little as possible.
I made an Avios redemption for 2 of us DUB-LHR-BOM in Club World so it includes this product to Heathrow. Looking forward to it, but I cannot believe the cost of booking a seat with BA. It ranges from £66-£80 for the Mumbai sector, and they want £22 for the Dublin to Heathrow sector. That’s ridiculous. I won’t be paying and we’ll just have to hope we get seated together
Yes, the seating costs are definitely very expensive for those people without frequent flyer status. Very nice that you got two seats though, you should have a good flight. Make sure you get your free spa treatment at London Heathrow before your flight onwards to BOM. Just make sure you use online check-in as soon as it opens 24 hours before your first sector. That way you should be able to move seats around to sit together if you’re not already. Have a good trip!
Thanks for the tip. I’m a bit tight on time to avail of a spa treatment as I only have 80mins between flights. I have much more time on my return leg DEL-LHR-DUB, but from my reading of the details it seems like Club World passengers are only eligible for a treatment before a long-haul flight and not afterwards??
What a shame – you definitely won’t have time with an 80 minute connection. You are right, it is only for those departing on a Club World flight. Nevermind, there’s always another time. Plus the spa is often very busy so you may not have got an appointment anyway.
Can’t say that I would pay 100+ euros for lounge access and extra baggage (when I’m in Europe I’m in carryons and buying HBO fares), let alone a meal I could get for 10 euros on the ground.
There are many that agree with you. I don’t think you could get business class much cheaper though, so if you haven’t tried it, it’s worth the splurge. There’s also the service and space aspect to consider, so as a package, I feel it’s worthwhile. Thanks for the comment!
The very best way to fly these short sector journeys in Club is to use Avios. London to Dublin is only 7750 in Club [Off Peak]. For an extra £7.50 and 3750 Avios more than Economy, you get extra baggage, lounge access, priority boarding, a meal on board, and quick disembarking. It really is a great deal. I flew London to Manchester [same Avios etc.] a couple of months ago on the 20:25 service. There were no Avios seats available in Economy so that was not an option. I completely agree with you, using Avios for the short flights up front is a decent enough use of them, especially when the cash fares are very high as you pointed out. You can make a substantial saving by using the Avios instead. British Airways cabin crew tend to be really service oriented in Club as well as being particularly charming. I would be hard pressed to think of a time I had bad service at BA, so that part of the product, while not mentioned, is also extremely important. Thanks for the comment!
