American Express and Hilton Honors have teamed up with a new round of credit card offers. We’ve seen offers on the Surpass Card and Aspire card hover around the 150,000 points mark. However, if you use the good old shopping cart trick, you can get some valuable statement credits. If you like to reduce the impact of the annual fee, the offers with the statement credits might be of value to you.

Shopping Cart Trick

The shopping cart trick is a popular trick in the miles and points world. The idea here is to make a mock booking on the website and look for a different offer. These offers usually pop up when you reach the payment section while you make your booking. If your spend threshold is low and you’re looking to save some money on the annual fee, then these offers could be of value to you. You’ll see that the minimum spend for these offers is lower than the standard offers that Amex is currently running.

Also, if you prefer points instead of free nights, then you could also make use of these offers. This is primarily because it’s much easier to keep your points active instead of a free night certificate. Also, the free night certificate is restricted for the weekend. Hilton defines weekend as a hotel night on a Friday, Saturday or a Sunday.

Bonuses Currently Available

American Express recently launched a variant to the standard offers on their Hilton card. One of them is the 130,000 Hilton Honors points and one free night on the Hilton Surpass Card. Here’s a list of current offers available. As per the American Express website, these offers end on 08/28/2019. Click on the link to head over to American Express in order to apply for these cards.

Statement Credits

I saw these new offers pop up for the co-branded Hilton cards while recently making a Hilton booking. While these don’t have any direct links, you can find them if you make a dummy booking on Hilton.com. Please note that the offer with the statement credit isn’t available on the Hilton Aspire card. The Pundit’s Mantra

If you have an upcoming stay, then I’d go for the offers on the Hilton Surpass, Hilton Aspire and the Hilton Business Card. Each of these offers give you free weekend nights. If you’re looking to accumulate points, don’t spend as much and are looking to get a nice discount on the annual fee, then go for the shopping cart trick.

Which offers do you find lucrative? Do you prefer statement credits and lower minimum spend requirements to the points and free weekend night offers? Let us know in the comments section.
