Connecting flights are standard with many airlines offering hub and spoke models. This is where you fly from somewhere to another big airport and connect onwards to your destination.
It can cause havoc when it comes to food though, meaning even I have to sometimes choose the light option. Quite frankly I prefer eating the full meal because it feels like better value to me and I’m all about value.
BA780 – London Heathrow to Dublin (LHR-DUB)
6 May 2018
Airbus A319 – G-EUOD
Seat: Club Europe 3A
Departure: 18:30 Arrival: 19:50
After flying in from Stockholm, I spent a little time in the lounge to have a drink before heading off to my gate. We boarded swiftly enough and headed out to the runway in the evening sun.
With little delay we were up in the air, heading towards Dublin. I knew there was a meal service coming and I knew I had no room for the usual Panini.
The Light Option
It has been quite some time since I’ve seen the light option on British Airways and it has evolved since it was first introduced. It is now three pieces of chicken with salad and coleslaw.
The crew offer bread from the basket and it was with some reluctance that I took it at all. But you know me, value! I only ate half the bread but finished all of the meal. The coleslaw is pretty decent and works well with the chicken, giving it a moist taste.
Where Did The Speedmarque Go?
British Airways are going to be removing the table that sits in the middle seat in Club Europe. It is a shame as the table is really quite handy to rest your phone on.
Unusually, the Speedmarque was missing from my tray table altogether. Perhaps someone purloined it before the tables are removed? My guess is that it just fell out though.
I daresay that the removal of the table will save on cleaning costs as I can’t imagine it being easy to clean. Still, I will miss it when it finally goes.
The light option is not my first choice but sometimes needs must. I certainly prefer it to being so full that there is no room for food at all. That just wouldn’t fit into my value for money thinking.
Are you a hot option, light option or one of those who doesn’t eat on the flight at all? I’d love to know! Thanks for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.
