I recently completed my second Kimpton stay this month. I would not normally review the same hotel twice in the same year, so I will keep that part of this blog to a minimum, and instead focus on the Kimpton InTouch Inner Circle experience, and my thoughts on Kimpton in general. My most recent stay at the Hotel Palomar in Washington, DC, was my second in as many weeks. I reviewed the Palomar favorably during my last one night stay, and this two-night stay was consistent with the last experience. While I was not upgraded for this stay, my room was large, and comfortable. Perfect for a two-night business trip. I snapped a few photos.

Large Closet - The Leopard Print Robes Entertain Me

As an Inner Circle member, a welcome amenity of wine, cashews and chocolates were provided along with a personal note from the General Manager welcoming me back. Very nice touch. Heck, the guy delivering that even remembered me. Check in was quick and courteous, and everything about the hotel was just as I last found it – great! I even made it in time to enjoy the hosted wine event in the lobby! JOY! đŸ™‚

Thoughts on Kimpton

I like Kimpton’s style. I don’t know if it’s a size of the company thing (not a multi-thousand property behemoth like Hilton or Marriott), an attention to detail thing (it shows), or some combination of both, but their ability to consistently impress is notable. Granted, my Inner Circle status garners me a little attention that I would not otherwise get, but having stayed with Kimpton before that, I can say they are uniquely able to do things that hotels should do, and do them very well. It’s enough to make me wish they had hotels everywhere, but if they did, would they be the same? Hard to say. For now, I like Kimpton just the way they are.
