British Airways are flying once a week between Dublin and Ibiza through the summer. I took the inaugural service on Friday night and then returned on Sunday morning for a quick weekend away.
Club Europe is excellent value on this route when booking in advance however there is no lounge access provided at Ibiza. This meant sitting in a terminal full of rubbish as the cleaners were on strike when I was there. It was a relief when boarding was called and I went down the stairs onto the bus.

Thirty one passengers boarded the aircraft, with 30 in EuroTraveller and just 1 in Club Europe, which would be me. The crew announced a delay due to French airspace congestion and during the delay I was offered a drink. I chose to have a green tea to settle my stomach as I wasn’t feeling the best.
The Embraer 190 cabin is quite comfortable and it is really nice being the only passenger in business class. We soon had the safety demonstration and headed into the air.
Breakfast Service From Ibiza
Drinks orders are taken first and I chose an apple juice and a sparkling water. These are delivered quite promptly as you would expect having one crew member to yourself.
Flights between Ibiza and Dublin are operated by BA CityFlyer, a wholly owned subsidiary of British Airways based at London City Airport. The full English breakfast is quite comprehensive.
This contains a sausage, mushrooms, tomato, potato cake, bacon and the inevitable egg of doom. I really don’t like this fluffy splatter of yellow that airlines serve for breakfast. The rest of the hot meal is usually excellent.
I love the fruit bowl partly because it contains two strawberries. You know what that means, don’t you? All thoughts of being good go out the window as I decide a Champagne breakfast is the order of the day.
On the bread plate are a croissant, half a slice of toast and a waffle. The other items make sense – jam for the croissant, butter for the toast and golden syrup for the waffle.
Pretty much a taste extravaganza, if I overlook my despised egg and the exceedingly hard piece of toast. Quite a filling meal for breakfast, the most important meal of the day. Especially with Champagne!
Cabin and Crew
No-one came forward through the curtain during the flight so I found everything very relaxing. Later on, I decided to take a few shots of the cabin since I had it all to myself.
When the crew finished their service and some time had passed, they came and sat and chatted with me which I always like. It passes the time for all involved and they brought more Champagne and fruit for me. I love talking to crew as they’re usually quite bubbly and interesting. We arrived in Dublin on time.
Once again the London City based crew showed their excellent service standards and training. The catering is excellent though I would pay money to see poached eggs in the meal rather than the fluffy pile of scrambled yellow. Food is plentiful and there is also a decent amount of Champagne to have a celebratory breakfast.
