I needed a hotel for a short overnight stay before heading to the airport in the morning, and booked a night at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento. It was 12 miles from the airport.

Upon arrival at the hotel, my initial room assignment was a Club room. Holding SPG Plat status I inquired if there were any suites available. There was a Bay suite free, and the check-in agent was happy to give it to me.

She also gave me a pamphlet for the Sacramento Convention Center complex which was across the street there in downtown Sacramento. A few of the highlights were the Community Center Theater where the Sacramento Ballet performs, and the Memorial Auditorium.

The suite was large and had a nice large window that offered views of downtown.

The furnishings didn’t seem to be that old, but looked a little worn. The blue color of some of the furniture didn’t do a good job of hiding the wear.

There was a flat screen TV, dresser, and plenty of seating room.

Since it was a corner room, there were windows on both walls. There were also two window seats aka. bay windows in the suite which was a fun feature that I couldn’t recall seeing in a hotel room before. One was located in the main room, and the other in the bedroom.

Complimentary water.

Work area next to the TV.

The desk offered old style Ethernet cable, although Wifi was available. The connection via Wifi was not very fast though.

The window seat in the bedroom had a nice cushion that encouraged window gazing.

A pillow was even left propped in the corner.

As the evening fell my instinct was to reach up and close the drapes. After waving around and not finding the cord to pull the drapes closed, I saw this sign. Apparently I hadn’t been the only one to try to close the drapes manually.

The bed looked nice, but the mattress felt a little soft. Sheraton is supposed to have their Sweet Sleeper beds in all their hotels, but perhaps this was an older mattress.

The bathroom had the same robin-blue decor.

As the Club Lounge was being remodeled when I was there, I didn’t get a chance to have the breakfast. But the room was quiet, and the views were pretty. ┬áThis would be a good hotel option if visiting the downtown Sacramento area.
