Introduction

Located in Mendoza, Argentina, the 186 room Park Hyatt Mendoza Hotel, Casino, and Spa provides 5-star luxury accommodation in Argentina’s wine capitol.  Compared to other Park Hyatt hotels, the Park Hyatt Mendoza offers inexpensive points rates, which provides a great opportunity to experience Hyatt’s flagship brand.  Furthermore, its location is well suited was various wine tasting tours of the region.

Booking

Booking a Park Hyatt branded hotel using points at the category 2 rate is an extreme rarity.  For 8,000 points or 4,000 points plus $55, you can book a room in this luxury hotel for what usually gets you an airport hotel in Kansas City.  Additionally, this hotel is also a good use of the annual free night award that Hyatt credit card holders receive every year.

Another plus of this hotel, in my experience, is that they actually upgrade members who hold Globalist status with Hyatt.  For my stay I used points and was upgraded to the huge 110-sq.-metre suite for free.

Prices vary depending on the season, but during my stay, the standard rooms were going for $350 per night and suites were going for $680 per night.

Location (5/5)

Located in the main business district in the center of Mendoza, in front of Plaza Independencia, the Park Hyatt Mendoza is a great option for booking wine tasting tours or doing city tours of Mendoza.  The view out of the rooms were not too bad and it was quiet at night.

Property (4/5)

The property is set within a beautifully restored 19th-century Spanish colonial facade and visitors are greeted in a large open space upon entering the building.  A pool is onsite, however, it is small and overrun by seemingly everyone in the hotel.  Nevertheless, the building materials, decor, furniture, and architecture all were of high quality.

Room (5/5)

Extraordinary in size, the rooms are among the biggest I’ve stayed at, especially for an entry level sized suite.  A six-person dining room table, living room with two couches, desk with three chairs, two bathrooms, and a separated bedroom, make this suite great for throwing a party.

Food (5/5)

Dining options on site include an Italian restaurant, Argentine grille, wine bar, and the lobby lounge serving a small menu of items.  The food options were delicious and well presented.  As usual at Park Hyatt hotels, the breakfast spread was epic and thankfully free due to having globalist status with Hyatt.

Service (5/5)

All staff members I interacted with were professional, friendly, and attentive of any request or question I had.  Staff spoke English well and always greeted guests with a smile during my stay.  Also, the room was kept spotlessly clean and was even setup with an amenity gift when I entered the room.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Park Hyatt Mendoza is a great option for those looking to experience the Park Hyatt Brand but are put of by the typically high amount of points that are required to book a stay.  The insanely large rooms and great location only add to an already great use of 8,000 points per night.  Finally, for those who have globalist status, the free suite upgrades and breakfast remind you why you maintain loyalty to the Hyatt brand.
