Background:

I chose the Hilton Garden Inn Brussels Centre as a base to explore Brussels + Bruges. It was the best value option as the days I was here, the Hilton was double the price! I’m Hilton Diamond, so I was happy to get free breakfast here.

Check-In + The Room:

I booked a standard room directly through Hilton, and on mobile check in they assigned me a Family Room which is a double bed + sofa bed. I really just wanted 2 Twins for my friend and me and thankfully at check-in they had a room on the sixth (top) floor available.

Diamond Members get breakfast for two, and two bottles of water (at check-in).

The Room:

The room was quite small but it was very very clean! It definitely looked newly renovated. The twin beds were big and they were quite comfortable. Much better bedding than I was expecting from a Hilton Garden Inn. It was even better than the Doubletree bedding I had in London. I was happy to get great sleep here!

The bathroom was tiny, and the shower kind of flooded the whole bathroom as there was no door. Kind of annoying!

There were no USB ports (sad!) but the hotel kindly lent me a converter to charge my phone 🙂

The room was stocked with a mini fridge and coffee/tea + a hot water maker which I found useful! There was also an iron + iron board as well.

Pleasant view from room.

Breakfast:

For a HGI, the breakfast buffet was better than I was expecting, but not amazing! It had scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and beans. Also, it had a decent amount of cold cuts, and juices! I guess only the fruit was lacking. An adequate breakfast to start the day!

Service:

The front desk + breakfast team was always nice and happy to help.

But, housekeeping never replaced our tissues despite the box being empty, and didn’t give us any more soap bars when we ran out.

Location:

The location is pretty decent, only about a 5-10 minute walk to the shopping district of Brussels. There’s a Dominos Pizza right across the street as well.

It’s walkable to Brussels Midi in about 25 minutes, which is where the international trains leave from to Paris and Amsterdam. I opted not to walk at night when I arrived as I read that the area near Brussels Midi isn’t the most welcoming. I did do the walk on my train out of Brussels in the morning and it was an okay walk.

To get around Brussels, the metro station is a minute walk from the hotel which I used to visit the Atomium attraction.

Amenities:

There’s a fitness center on the underground level. It’s very small, and there wasn’t even a bench!

Late Checkout failed again. Since my train was at 3PM I asked if late checkout was possible until 2PM. But, they said they were fully booked for the next night, so they best they could do was 1PM for a Diamond Member. Oh well…

The Verdict:

The Hilton Garden Inn Brussels City Centre is a solid hotel to explore Brussels! If my travels bring me back, I’ll definitely consider it again.

Happy travels,

Ty
