I recently completed a 1-night business related stay at the Hotel Monaco in Washington, DC. This is bit of a commentary on Kimpton Karma as a loyalty program as well a bit of a hotel review, all of which is positive. I really didn’t have time to enjoy the Monaco’s great restaurant, Poste. Ironically, I was checking in on the first day that Poste’s popular outdoor patio was open, but I had other plans.

While making Kimpton’s wine hour was not my top priority for the day, a little wine never hurt anyone. Unfortunately, I was running late which I jokingly Tweeted.

Check-in was friendly, and efficient…and closed with “you’re just a little too late for wine hour, but would you like a glass of cabernet?” 🙂 Yes!

The Room

While I’ve been seen at Poste a few times during my DC career, this was actually my first stay at Hotel Monaco. I was given a 4th floor city view room that turned out to be larger than I expected, especially for a landmark historic building turned hotel. The room was comfortable and really just perfect for a short business trip. Wi-Fi worked well, there were plenty of power outlets, everything a business traveler needs. I took a few photos for reference.

 Hallway leading to room.

 Comfortable bed.

View from bed towards desk and windows.

Tidy desk with power outlets and phone.

Closet with safe…and the robes. 🙂

Bath vanity.

Overall, the room was perfect for a business traveler.

The Bottom Line

Hotel Monaco Washington, DC is a great hotel which offers the kind of service one expects from a Kimpton Hotel. Hotel Monaco will be one of the first hotels I look to return to on my next visit to Washington, DC.
