I recently completed a one-night stay at The Hilton Alexandria Old Town Hotel located at 1767 King St in Alexandria, VA. The hotel is located adjacent to the King Street Metro station, making it very convenient for those arriving at National Airport (DCA). King Street Metro is just two stops away heading south on the Blue or Yellow Lines. I tend to prefer staying in DC proper when I need to be in DC, but this was the best option available for this short business trip, and frankly, I really like Old Town Alexandria, always have.
I arrived via Metro and within 3 minutes, I was standing at the front desk checking in. I was offered a coupon good for a hot breakfast in the hotel restaurant as part of my Gold benefits, a code for internet, and shortly, I was on my way to my room, 632. Labeled the “Hilton HHonors” floor, my room was not far from the elevator, but far enough not to be noisy. Double beds were all that were available, but that’s not a huge deal for a one night stay at all. My room was typical Hilton, comfortable, with a desk, good lighting, TV, and the wireless internet that was fast enough to get the job done. I snapped a few pictures of the room for your reference.
Around the Hotel
You can dine well in Old Town Alexandria. In the immediate vicinity of the hotel is BRABO. Ironically, BRABO is a Kimpton Restaurant located at the Lorien, a great hotel. I had not dined at BRABO in quite some time, so I was really looking forward to. I took the short walk down King Street and enjoyed a really wonderful meal. Another favorite for reliable American food is Joe Theismann’s which is near the Hilton as well. If you are in the mood for some exercise and wearing comfortable shoes, walk down King Street to the waterfront, or lacking good shoes, walk across the street and catch the shuttle. There are a lot of good restaurants closer to the waterfront. Those that I have personally experienced are The Warehouse Bar & Grill, Chart House, Fish Market, and Union Street Public House.
The Bottom Line
A short say, so a short review. The hotel was a fine solution for any business traveler with comfortable accommodations, close to good restaurants, and convenient to DC’s Metro system. I’d stay again if business takes me back to Northern Virginia.
