The weekend is here! We all know that I’m a fan of cruise vacations, even taking an occasional short weekend cruise when the timing is right. But let’s face it, cruising isn’t always an option, and sometimes a quick weekend getaway is as close as a great hotel.
According to a 2014 survey by the U.S. Travel Association, the average American employee left 3.2 PTO days unused in 2013, just enough time to match up with the right weekend and enjoy a short vacation. Further, a recent Hilton Worldwide survey revealed that Americans don’t simply choose to skip out on taking long weekends, they just get too busy and lose track of time:
- 77 percent of Americans believe weekends go by too quickly
- 36 percent say they have weekend regret come Sunday
