Park Hyatt has announced plans to add a 35th hotel to its portfolio of properties, this one in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná, Brazil. The city is known for its spectacular Iguaçu Falls and National Park, which is also a world heritage site.

Called Park Hyatt Foz do Iguaçu, the hotel will be located on the riverbank of the Iguaçu River, just six miles away from the National Park and 15 minutes from downtown Foz do Iguaçu. It is slated to open in 2017, and I’ll be marking my calendar.

According to the press release – “the development will also include 30 Park Hyatt-branded two and three-bedroom homes, residential sites for single-family homes and a 25 acre protected nature reserve. Park Hyatt Foz do Iguaçu will offer the brand’s signature personalized services with 170 luxury rooms and suites, four restaurants and bars, a spa, a fitness center, an outdoor pool, and more than 16,146 square feet (1,500 square meters) of meeting and event space.”

I’m excited about the new property. The closest I’ve come to the area has been the Ritz-Carlton in Chile so there is still plenty of exploring to do. I haven’t been to Iguaçu Falls yet but it is definitely on my list of places to visit. There is currently a Sheraton Iguazú Resort & Spa located inside the park that averages about $300 a night, and a popular hotel called the Belmond Hotel das Cataratas nearby, but it’ll be outstanding to have a Park Hyatt option!
