Kempinski Hotels announced that it will soon be opening its first property in Cuba, with a management contract signed by Grupo de Turismo Gaviota SA.
As companies rush to get into Cuba before tourism explodes, there is a lot of buzz being created about the Kempinski as it will also be the first 5-star property in Cuba.
Named the Gran Hotel Kempinski Manzana La Habana, the property situated in the UNESCO world heritage site of Old Havana will open in the second quarter of 2017.
The hotel will be located in the Manzana de Gomez building originally built in the 1890’s, which used to be Cuba’s first shopping mall.
The hotel will have 246 guest rooms and suites, a rooftop pool and terrace, three restaurants, and a spa. One of the restaurants will be on the rooftop with a panoramic view over the streets below.
Guest rooms start at 430 square feet and top out at 1614 square feet for the Presidential Suite. All rooms have soaring 13-16 foot ceilings.
This being Cuba, of course there will be a cigar bar.
Though bookings cannot be made online yet for the Gran Hotel Kempinski Manzana La Habana, there’s a webpage up for those who want a sneak peek at the property –
