Etihad has a quite competitive business class sale on at the moment for flights departing from Indonesia. This will be useful for people who can get to Jakarta relatively cheaply.
The Abu Dhabi based airline is currently in the midst of a change programme to restore profitability. With a well regarded on board product, taking advantage of the sale may suit you.
Jakarta to Europe Sale Details
Flights can be booked up to 22 May 2019, with travel available through to 30 November 2019. You need to book your flights at least 21 days in advance and you’re limited to a maximum one month stay.
Example fares are such as the below from Jakarta to London Heathrow return. This is coming up at 25,670,000 Indonesian Rupiah’s, which translates to US$1,776, €1,595 or AU$2,548.
You get five flights in the option above, including a sector on codeshare partner Alitalia. The sale fares also allow you a stopover in Abu Dhabi if you desire.
Rome comes out at IDR 28,875,700 which is $US2,015, €1,795 or AU$2,888, with Amsterdam just a shade cheaper. Another example is Paris, which is IDR 31,544,700, so US$2,185, €1,960 or AU$2,888, with Madrid a little less expensive.

If your first thought is “Jakarta? Why would I fly from there?”, you have to think outside the box a little. Low cost carriers throughout Asia connect to Jakarta cheaply, and it’s also a relatively short flight from Australia. You could even have a mini-break before or after your trip in Indonesia.
