This is risky, especially on a Friday night, but I’m going to give it the old college try. I’m going to throw a topic out there and see if we can get some discussion going. The topic – is it just me or are GoGo’s speeds increasingly unacceptable? I’m sure the particular market you’re flying has something to do with it, but overall, I found United’s satellite based wi-fi speeds on SFO-ATL to be better than DCA-ATL using GoGo inflight wi-fi on Delta….a route I frequent, and a flight I’m on as I type this. Does anyone else get slow speeds and frequent complete drops of the GoGo signal? Am I being unfair? Was I lucky with my sample size of two United flights with satellite based wi-fi? There you have it….LET’S DISCUSS!

I have had decent speeds on GoGo and have not noticed any slowdown with the rollout of Delta Studio.
@Keith, that’s good news.
MJ, that 39.95 that hits my Delta Reserve AMEX credit card every month is frustrating due to the product I receive in return. GoGo has proven to be very poor – when it works. Last week I flew from PDX to MSP to CLT. The first leg was okay. The second leg the service didn’t even work. The flight attendant rebooted the hardware but to no avail. Another frustrating thing was that she didn’t come back to give me any updates.
@George, it’s become noticeably flakier on many flights. Oddly enough, it worked pretty well on the flight I decided to write this post….until near the end. (well above 10K)
I have also been experiencing the hit or miss of speed and drop outs on many Delta flights. If you have a bad experience and write Gogo via their website, they will give you a code for free wifi on next flight.
It has become terrible and keeps getting worse. Maybe they could convert to dial up to increase the speed??

Gogo has always been hit or miss for me, with more misses recently. I remember when UA announced a cpl years ago that waiting to install wifi was going to allow to leapfrog those that installed Gogo. They would have been able to do so if they effectively rolled it out in a timely manner. So, you have ubiquitous mediocre Gogo on AA and DL versus faster speeds on fewer planes with UA (along with a number of installs that don’t function properly). I have not been on a Delta jet for a month. I am woefully unqualified to give feedback (not that that has ever stopped me in the past) but I will say I have been mostly pleased with Delta GoGo speed. But then again it was before the new stream video and from the new Studio thing. Will fine out when I fly, get this, 42,000+ miles in SEPT! đŸ™‚
Good point DP, It’s hard for me to imagine Delta Studio working great with low bandwidth.
