Delta Airlines has announced that Seattle will be one of the first destinations to get the A330neo. The airline’s newest state of the art aircraft will begin flying out of the Pacific Northwest beginning July 1st.

 

Routes

There will be three primary routes that will begin flying with the A330neo. The routes, along with their initial start date are:

Shanghai→ July 1st.

Seoul Incheon→ August 1st.

Tokyo Narita→ August 31st.

The Tokyo Narita route will be flown by an A350 between March 1st and August 31st. By then, the carrier’s new A330neo will begin taking over most of the routes to Asia from the A330s, 767s and A350s that fly from Seattle.

 

What to Expect

You can expect that the Delta A330neo Seattle routes will have the coveted Delta One Suites. These fully enclosed business class suites are the hallmark of the airline. The business class has become one of the best in the world, mainly because it offers an amenity that was previously only seen in First Class cabins. Delta One will consist of 29 closed suites.

There will also be 28 seats in Premium Select, Delta’s premium economy cabin. The upgraded experience from economy debuted on their A350s, and has since become very popular across the airline.

Economy class will have a total of 56 seats in Comfort+, Delta’s extra legroom seats. The economy cabin will consist of 168 seats. All the aircraft will be equipped with Gogo 2Ku wifi. Wifi connectivity should be very fast on these new planes, given the improvements Gogo 2Ku has shown.

 

Seattle Hub

Delta’s Seattle hub has become the airline’s primary Asia gateway, followed closely by LAX. The airline has added a new SkyClub at the airport in the last few years. Delta will also launch A220 flights to San Jose, California, in the coming months. The A220 is a major passenger experience improvement and the airline is the only US carrier to have ordered the plane, so far. Seattle’s new terminal, that is currently under construction, should allow the airline to expand its operations event further, with the addition of more gates and more space.

 

Landing Thoughts

This will be a huuuuge improvement to the current offerings Delta has to Asia from Seattle. Most flights are flown with dated 767s and A330s. The new A330neo will be a leader in consumer comfort, and provide the airline will more flexibility with its current fleet of aircraft.
