This past week I decided I’d go ahead and apply for the JetBlue Business card issued by Barclaycard. I’ve been following a plan to stick strictly to opening business cards this year in order to fall to less than 5 applications on my credit report. Hopefully by January 2020 I’ll then be able to get my first Chase card in two years.
I figured the application would be simple. Approval is obviously up the air, but applying should be no issue. At least that’s what I thought.
Problem Applying for the JetBlue Business Card
Like any other online card application, I used a link to get to the application page and filled out all the information. The JetBlue business card application is a single page, and there wasn’t anything unexpected in what was required.
When I clicked the “Apply” button, I got the “application processing” message. But then it went away. I was left on the application page. It scrolled to the top, which made me think there was an error in one of the fields.
After searching the whole page, I couldn’t find a single red box or anything else that was amiss. Maybe it was my browser and the message wasn’t displaying. I was using an out of date version of Chrome on my Ubuntu desktop (don’t laugh).
But when I tried Chrome again in Windows, and subsequently Firefox and Edge, the same thing happened. That is, nothing. The processing modal box would appear, then disappear several seconds later without leaving me a clue as to what is wrong.
Do I Call Barclaycard?
As I can’t seem to figure out what is wrong with the application and I can’t submit to Barclaycard, the only option seems to be calling the bank. I hate picking up the phone, and I know an actual person is going to ask more detailed questions about the business, which will be annoying. It’s not that I don’t have a real business, but I’m sure how they’ll view reselling, freelance writing, and other consulting.
But I may give it a shot. There are up to 60,000 points on the table.
Anyone else tried to apply for the JetBlue business card recently? Did you have similar issues?
