I recently had the opportunity to fly Cathay Pacific’s Business Class cabin, from Boston Logan Airport to Hong Kong on the 777-300ER.  It was for an unexpected non-leisure trip, so I was immensely grateful to be able to book 2 close-in award seats. I’ve flown CX business long-haul flights before, but it was the first time I was flying on this particular segment (a 15 hours+ flight).

I hung out at the BA airways lounge prior to the flight.  With a departure at 1:50AM, all I wanted was to start my sleep cycle right after the meal service.

The one thing I love most about flying Cathy is that you know what to expect. CX has a solid hard product for their business cabin (herringbone style, and lie-flat seats), and their service had always been consistently good.

There are no “bad” seats when it comes to the seats.  It’s 1-2-1 configuration, so you get plenty of space.  I just tend to think the window pods are more private.

 

Plenty of legroom.  Also blanket and pillow for taking a nap (or actual sleep, if you are someone who can sleep on a plane).

 

I browsed through some of the entertainment options, but I was so sleepy that I didn’t even bother watching any movies on Studio CX.

For a red-eye flight, the one thing I wish Cathay would include for their business class is a set of pajamas.  Just as a comparison, Eva Airways offered a comfortable set of PJ for the Royal Laurel (business) customers.  I loved it and thought it was a super nice touch.

And ate a bowl of cereal, to boot.

 

Then I went to sleep.  In the morning, there was the breakfast option.

 

Congee + I don’t recall what the rest of the stuff was on the congee. It didn’t taste good to me, so I picked them out for the most part.

 

And before I know it, the flight was over.

I always thought that flying on CX business class was a treat, and this was no exception.  You know what you are going to get when you fly on CX:

  • A professional and pleasant crew
  • A solid hard product in the form of spacious seating and lie-back seats.

These are the top 2 things I care most on a long-haul flight, and CX does both very well.

The rest is just icing on the cake.
