Qatar Airways are promoting their routes to the UK and Ireland by running Facebook ads offering a bonus to new members of their frequent flyer scheme, Privilege Club.

One of the excellent things about alliance membership for passengers it that your status is recognised on other airlines. For Qatar Airways, that is the oneworld alliance.

Qatar’s Bonus Offer Details

Anyone interested in enrolling in the programme can do so for free. All you need to do is register by 31 March 2018 using the promotional code UK2018.

You then need to fly Qatar Airways before 31 May 2018 to trigger the bonus. You earn a bonus 5,000 Qmiles in Business Class and 2,500 in Economy Class. Regular readers will know that I’ve loved Qatar Airways business class since I first tried it.

But Wait, There’s More!

Moving up the tiers means you need to accrue Qpoints, which are similar to tier points or status credits on other airlines. Under the promotion, if you earn 100 Qpoints you’ll be promoted to Silver and if you earn 200 Qpoints you’ll go Gold.

Silver normally requires 150 Qpoints, while you need 300 Qpoints for gold. These are the equivalents of oneworld Ruby and Sapphire. Interestingly, Silver gives you lounge access when flying on Qatar which is unheard of at Ruby level.

How Do I Enroll?

If you are not a member of Qatar’s Privilege Club, this might be a good opportunity to do so. You can get a nice fast-track to a higher status which is quite valuable, along with some Qmiles.

You can go ahead and click here to be taken to the offer page on Qatar’s web site. I’m sorely tempted to give this a go myself, but I am still wedded to my current programme – thankfully it’s also oneworld.

Overall Thoughts

Since Qatar are now flying to Dublin, Edinburgh, Manchester, London, Birmingham and Cardiff, there are a lot of potential new frequent flyers to attract. Coming in with bonus miles is always a nice hook to get people interested.

The really cool bonus is the reduced Qpoints required to climb up the tiers. Being able to take advantage of that gives you tangible benefits quite quickly.

What do you think of this offer? Are you a Privilege Club member perhaps – what is the programme like? Thanks for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.
