Takeoff To Travel

Hi everyone! The travel bug hit me at the age of eight on my first flight and ever since then I’ve loved planning vacations for my friends and family. I’m a recent college graduate who has a goal to try out new hotel chains and sample the many airline cabins out there. Having been both a city boy and living in the suburbs, I love traveling to all destinations both big and small.

How I Got A Mercedes SUV for Just $16 More at Enterprise!

Background: During my visit to Miami, my parents and I wanted a rental car for a day trip to Key West and Naples. I never thought I’d end up with a Mercedes rental car! The last time I was in a Mercedes rental car was when my friends and I used car2go in Denver. car2go only rented out smart cars and Mercedes Benz GLA’s and CLA’s. I reviewed the Mercedes Benz GLA with car2go a few years ago. Arriving to see Tesla’s? My hotel was in Coconut Grove, which is about 5 miles south of Downtown Miami. The closest...

Review: JetBlue A321 Core Class Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale

Background: I booked jetBlue to/from Fort Lauderdale because I wanted to try their A321 Mint configuration plane featuring the newer seats and 10 inch IFE in economy. Plus, they were cheaper than the nonstops on American to Miami, so it really was a no brainer! The Flights: jetBlue Airways Flight 2800 and Flight 101 Los Angeles (LAX) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Los Angeles (LAX) Seat: 21A and 21F Core Class (Economy) Aircraft: Airbus A321 Mint Boarding at LAX: After a nice visit to the Korean Airlines Lounge at Tom Bradley, I took the nice...

Priority Pass Review: Kafe Kalik Fort Lauderdale Airport

Background: Priority Pass just added a restaurant option inside Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL), called Kafe Kalik which offers Caribbean inspired food. On my latest trip out of FLL, I had a chance to visit Kafe Kalik before my flight! Kafe Kalik Location: Kafe Kalik is located in Terminal 4, next to gate G6. Also, it is open from 6am-10pm daily. My JetBlue flight was departing from Terminal 3, and it took about 10-15 minutes to walk to it. Thankfully as of 2016, Terminals 3 and 4 at Fort Lauderdale Airport are connected airside (post-security)! Unfortunately, if you’re leaving from...

Review: Amazing JetBlue A320 Economy Oakland to Long Beach

Background: I booked jetBlue to fly back home from Oakland as it was cheaper than Southwest, and I had a $40 travel credit because my jetBlue flight to Florida dropped $40. If the price of your flight changes within 5 days of booking, JetBlue will credit you the difference to your travel bank. Flight Details: jetBlue Airways Flight 347 Oakland (OAK) to Long Beach (LGB) Seat: 7F- Window- Economy Aircraft: Airbus A320 Status: On Time The Flight: Boarding was quick and right on time, and the flight wasn’t fully booked so it was easy to find overhead space. Priority Pass Review: The Club at DFW

Background: On my way back home from the Freddie Awards, I saw that Dallas/Forth Worth Airport had an array of Priority Pass options. They have 2 Minute Suite options, 2 Gameways (video game stations) and 1 traditional lounge option. As I wanted some food and drinks, I opted to visit the only actual Priority Pass lounge option at DFW, that being The Club at DFW. I only had 45 minutes to chill, so it was a bit of a rushed experience, but I’m glad I visited! Location of the Club at DFW: The Club at DFW is located at...

Hotel Review: TRYP Barcelona Apolo

Background: I stumbled on this hotel somehow as it was a good value and the kind of the location I was looking for. Last time I was in Barcelona, I stayed at the Level at Melia Barcelona Sky, which is much too far east of Barcelona. The TRYP Barcelona Apolo was walking distance to Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter so I thought it would be a solid location. Check-In: Check In was quick and I was told since I booked direct with Melia I’d get 10 euro a night for incidentals (room upgrade, breakfast, room service). I inquired how much...

Hotel Review: Novotel Paris La Défense

Background: I needed a place to stay for 2 nights in Paris and I wanted a good value option for me and my friend. The Novotel Paris La Défense worked for me because this was my third time in Paris, and I love the La Défense area as it sits right on metro line 1. That line is an amazing line with newer metro cars and stops at most of the tourist stops. Last time I was in Paris, I stayed at the Melia Paris La Defense so I knew the area really well. I found a Hotwire hot...

Flight Review: American A330 Basic Economy BCN-PHL

Background: So, flying on the American A330 home from Barcelona to Philadelphia was part one of my basic economy saga with American. My flight to Europe from Los Angeles to London was booked on British Airways, and everything went pretty smooth. American started off okay, as I checked in 24 hours before for my BCN-PHL flight and was assigned a seat next to my friend! No “standard” blue seats were left at check in, so we got a “preferred” green seat in row 20 (last row before lavatories).  I was just so happy we were sitting together and that...

Review: 3 Hour Delay On Vueling Airlines Paris to Barcelona

Background: I needed a flight from Paris to Barcelona, so I just wanted the cheapest option. Vueling Airlines popped up at under $50 each so I snagged them up! My friend from Barcelona had previously flown with them and she said they were decent so I took her advice! Vueling Airlines Delay: Sadly, we were notified that our flight was delayed about 1 hour before our scheduled departure of 1:35 PM. It said the flight would be delayed 2.5 hours! Thankfully, I had access to the Premium Traveller Lounge, which was an amazing escape from the hustle and bustle...

Priority Pass Review: Premium Traveller Lounge Paris Orly

Background: I booked a budget Vueling flight from Paris to Barcelona and wasn’t expecting it to depart from the part of the airport that had a lounge. This lounge is only accessible if you’re leaving out of Terminal 1-Hall 1 and Vueling leaves out of there! Boo-yeah! What a nice surprise! The Premium Traveller Lounge Paris Orly is accessible only to passengers departing on Schengen flights. It’s open from 6am-9pm daily and restrictions on Priority Pass Members access are on Thursday and Friday from 4-8pm. The Lounge: Right after security, make a left following the “Lounge Sign” and go...
