The Burj Al Arab Jumeirah hotel in Dubai is already known as a super luxury hotel. View from the Wing’s Gary Leff enjoyed and reviewed Tea at the Burj and agreed that everything was over the top.
Jumeirah has just unveiled their latest at the Burj – a huge unique outdoor leisure terrace called the Burj Al Arab Terrace. It was carefully constructed in Finland so as to disrupt as little as possible of the sea life and guests and once complete, it arrived in eight massive separate pieces ready to be assembled.
At over 107,000 square feet, the huge outdoor space has a tropical forest feel with plenty of light and shade. A walkway in the middle takes guests to two pools (one freshwater and one saltwater infinity style). The pools are lined with 10 million gold and deep blue tiles, and since the terrace juts out over the ocean the infinity pool creates the illusion of a continuous expanse of water. There are sun beds, and a beach with 1,000 tons of soft, white sand. Four Jacuzzis and a swim-up bar complete the water options.
Scape Restaurant & Bar also situated on the terrace offers guests food and drinks, and for an extra fee 32 air-conditioned cabanas come with an even higher level of service including butlers, spa menu, stocked minibars, B&O TV’s, espresso machines and fresh fruit. Eight of them labeled Royal Cabanas also have private bathrooms with showers and verandas.
Here’s an interesting two-minute video of the new terrace, from vision and construction to implementation and opening.
