Ritz-Carlton Reserve properties are on the smaller, more intimate side with less rooms and usually in great locations. This new hotel will be no exception. With just 50 rooms, the Ritz-Carlton Reserve will be located at the base of Mount Niseko-Annapuri in Niseko Village, a super popular ski destination which is well-known for its dry champagne powder snow. The Hokkaido property with views of Ezo Fuji or Mount Yotei will be ski-in, ski-out. When it isn’t ski season, the resort will offer guests horseback riding and golf. This will be the first Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Japan, and the scheduled completion date is 2020. That sounds far away, but then I remember that it is almost 2016 so there are only a few years to wait.
The second new Ritz-Carlton hotel in development is the Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui in Thailand. Set in the Choeng Mon area of Koh Samui, the hotel will have 187 guest rooms and pool villas set in an area known for white sandy beaches and the beautiful waters of the Gulf of Thailand. The Koh Samui property is expected to be completed in the next two years.
Of course, neither property is listed on the Ritz-Carlton’s website just yet but stay tuned for updates.
