It has been a LONG time since we’ve had an MJ on Travel reader contest, but there’s no time like the present to make things right again and offer some great prizes. First, National Car Rental is celebrating a huge milestone. In honor of 25 years of their fabulous Emerald Club, they are giving away a $25 dollar National gift card over on their Facebook page if you enter the Blast From the Past Sweepstakes! Submit a story, photo, or video of what you were doing 25 years ago for an opportunity to win.
Better yet, National and MJ on Travel are teaming up to offer you even more prizes. The grand prize is a National “Go Like a Pro™” gift basket filled with great things for all of your business travel needs including a $25 dollar gift card for business travel purchases, a National tumbler, a National embossed leather writing pad, a National pen set, a weekend duffle bag and a driving kit. The second runner up will receive a $25 dollar gift card.

I was a young lad back in 1987, so I wasn’t traveling way back then, but this summer I’m looking forward to my first trip visit to England, Belgium and France. Over 18 nights I’ll be visiting Oxford, Bristol, Bath, Welles, London, Ghent, Bruges, Brussels, and Paris. Using airline miles and hotel points earned primarily from credit cards, this is a pretty reasonable vacation: less than $900 for the 18 nights and 2 roundtrip tickets. Thank you American Express, Chase and Citibank for all the miles and points. Thank you to all the MJ and all the other travel bloggers… Read more »
I had my first plane trip (to California)!
Thanks!
Interviewing from Penn State meant flying weekly from State College (SCE) through Pittsburgh to places like Houston (Shell Oil), Bristol Tennessee (United Telephone (later Sprint)), Newark (Unisys), and Salisbury Maryland (Purdue Chickens). I’m pretty sure the airlines had some sort of triple miles promotion, and tickets were refundable. Those three flying recollections (Pittsburgh being a US Air hub, triple miles or refundable tickets) are far from memory today. I had 33,000 miles before I knew it, and I became hooked on the points game.
I was a crying baby
Didn’t exist!
Hope to see Bruges!
