Chalk one up for Spirit Airlines, the carrier that customers love to complain about.

Spirit CEO Ben Baldanza told Fox Business Network that the fight that erupted between a man and a woman on a United Flight due to the use of a $22 “Knee Defender” anti-seat-recline device could not have happened on Spirit, USA TODAY pointed out today. Why? “Our seats don’t recline,” Baldanza told Fox.

Spirit had been criticized, the USA TODAY piece said, for getting rid of seats that recline to save fuel and squeeze more seats into aircraft.

“The other advantages of a seat not reclining is that no one reclines onto your space either,” the CEO said, according to USA TODAY.
