Savannah / Hilton Head International Airport features a VIP lounge called the Passport Club. Passengers who are eligible for lounge access will find themselves availing of the facilities here. The airport is served by Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, Sun Country and United.

Savannah / Hilton Head Airport

The airport is a regional facility with a pleasant terminal that was built in 1994 and expanded in 2007. The terminal features a Flip Flop Stop, a Sunglass Hut, a Burger King, Coffee Shop and a Dewar’s Clubhouse Bar and Grille. Wireless Internet is free. The terminal is a nice open and bright space with lots of glass letting in natural light.

Passport Club

The Passport Club is situated after security towards the end of the gate concourse. When you enter, a friendly attendant at a desk on the right checks your eligibility and then you’re in. The Passport Club is essentially a square room which you can see from the pictures below.

You can select a soft drink from the small fridge or you can make yourself a coffee. The airport is nicely designed so it’s a crying shame that the Passport Club is perhaps the most boring space in the history of boring spaces. A television played some news programming, there were newspapers and that was it. That was it!

The Passport Club reminded me of a school teachers staff room which did not appeal to me at all. For the first time in my life, I left the lounge and went to Burger King for a burger and a coke. That was more interesting than this lounge.

Overall Thoughts

Savannah is a beautiful city and has a pretty little airport attached to it. Clearly they completely forgot to spend any money on the Passport Club. A few thousand dollars would transform the space. New furniture, some colourful art on the walls and perhaps some kind of food selection would really make a difference.

The attendant was nice and the room was certainly a quiet place to get away but Savannah Airport is quiet anyway. I would be quite disappointed if I paid to access this room. Thanks for reading and if you have any questions or comments, please leave them below.
