I arrived in Tokyo (NRT) from Bangkok, a red eye flight on ANA Business Class 787-9 Dreamliner (review). I had managed a good 4 hour sleep but felt I could sleep another 6. But this was my first time transiting NRT and I was equally excited to experience the much famed ANA Business class Lounge in Narita.

Getting to ANA Lounge Tokyo Narita

My flight NH 808 from Bangkok arrived at 8:40 am in Terminal 1, Gate 47 (Satellite 4). My connecting flight was out of gate 54 from the same terminal. The terminal has a unique layout with gates 51-58 located in Satellite 5, a fair distance away from gate 47 and connected via an underpass or by airport shuttles.

The underpass is a 300m walkway that connects Satellite 4 with Satellite 5 of terminal 1.

ANA Lounge closest to gate 54 was located on the 4th floor of Satellite 5.

The lounge entrance and the check-in desk had a minimalist elegance to it. The Business Class lounge was located to the left of the check-in desk and the ANA First Class Suite to the right.

The check-in process was quick and easy, a scan of the boarding pass and I was good to go!

I walked into the main area of the lounge which was welcoming with plenty of natural light and seating along the large windows, overlooking the tarmac and the gates.

The lounge sprawled across multiple sections of seating and food setup.

The lounge also featured elegant semiprivate booths with great media setup which could easily double as a meeting space, for four.

Food Setup

For me, the food and shower in the lounge can be a make or break experience. And its hard to express in words the sheer joy of seeing a live noodle bar preparing orders on demand. I opted for a tofu ramen and it was a thing of beauty!

I take it that the noodle bar is a very popular spot for visitors in the lounge, the buzzer system was a good indicator of how busy things can get.

Tofu Inari was the highlight for me..at this station 😉

For travelers with ‘western palate’, a full sandwich and breakfast spread was pretty impressive as well.

Now for my the part that never fails to excite me, a shower at the airport, between long flights. I truly cherish this amenity and is usually my primary reason for visiting lounges. The shower rooms at ANA lounge Tokyo Narita were located across from the check-in desks in the main lounge foyer.

The shower room decor was was inviting, with modern fixtures and plenty of elbow room.

The amenities in the shower room were ‘no-name’  by ‘Sheseido’ (as pointed out by reader Mike), efficient and abundant in supply.

Noting like a nice shower, I was refreshed and all set for my next leg of the journey, a 13 hour flight from NRT-IAD on ANA Business class 777-300 (review coming shortly) 🙂 .
