They say first impressions are lasting impressions. If that’s the case, my first impression of this ship is that she is beautiful and elegantly done. A true step up for Royal Caribbean. On the other hand, I hear from other guests on board that were here last week that things haven’t been smooth. There have been technical glitches. My sense is that our cruise is better than the last one, and comments from guests who were on both back that up. I’m told there are around 100 IT types on board at the moment working on ironing out things like the app-based cruise planner/calendar. For the record, I have not experienced any real issues with it other than my calendar would not work on day 2. There have been new ship glitches, but nothing that has really impacted me.

Of course, I’m planning a full review, but will be posting some random thoughts most days as I discover interesting new things about Quantum of the Seas. Today, let me say without hesitation, I will cruise on this ship and/or one of her Quantum Class sisters again. In fact, I will seek out opportunities to cruise on Quantum Class ships. Four days in, and I am convinced that these ships will be my favorite in the fleet…..and that’s saying something from me. The design and decor is more akin to a modern hotel – W, Ren, Kimpton, than a typical Royal Caribbean cruise ship. Not surprisingly, the construction of the ship reminds me of Celebrity’s Solstice Class ships which were also built by the Meyer Werft yard in Papenburg, Germany.

What really matters is that I am enjoying my cruise vacation and this ship very much. I’ll have more to say throughout the cruise, including tips on Dynamic Dining, and other tidbits that have caused some consternation among Royal Caribbean loyalists. In the meantime, here’s a video of me chasing my father in-law with a bumper car in SeaPlex! 🙂 More soon!!
