Premier Inn is a chain of budget hotels throughout the United Kingdom. The advertising campaign promises “Everything’s Premier but the price” which is to say you get a decent clean room without paying over the odds. Hotel prices in London can be eye watering so I usually stay in a Premier Inn when visiting which is a few times each year.

Check-In

Online check-in is available prior to your stay and upon arrival you get your room key from the automated kiosk. There is an attendant nearby if you run into trouble which is very good as the automatic system sometimes doesn’t work.

Premier Rooms

The web site for the Premier Inn London Hammersmith lists the room features as follows – “A luxury king size Hypnos bed, a lightweight yet toasty duvet, a choice of firm and soft pillows, a powerful shower, with baths at most hotels, a hairdryer, freeview TV with 80 channels, free Wi-Fi and a handy desk and chair, tea and coffee making facilities and cocooning blackout curtains.”

Happily, the rooms always feature all of these things.

The room pictured is on the top floor of the hotel and I stayed there for approximately fifteen minutes. When I left the room, I pushed the door after it closed to make sure it was locked and the lock was broken. It was possible to open the door by pushing it which isn’t at all secure. The Hotel staff came up and had a look and moved me immediately to another room with no quibbles.

What is always excellent is that the rooms and bedding are kept spotless.

Other Facilities

Wireless Internet is free at a slow speed and they sell Ultimate Wi-Fi which is faster for an additional fee. The hotel has a decent bar and a decent restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is £8.99 which is great value for the all you can eat buffet. You can also opt for a meal deal when booking for £23.99 which is breakfast plus a two course dinner including a drink. The dinner menu includes steaks, burgers, pizza, and other British favourites.

Overall Thoughts

Premier Inn have hit on an excellent concept. Offer a clean and comfortable room in a setting that offers all the basics such as breakfast, dinner and a bar and charge a reasonable rate for it. Cleanliness is always exceptional and I can’t stress how important this is. No-one likes signs of previous guests in the rooms and I’ve never come across this at any of the various Premier Inn’s I have stayed in.

The staff have always been very nice especially during a few late night sessions at the bar so my group enjoy staying here. The Premier Inn Hammersmith used to have no air conditioning which meant it was a sweat box in summer. We all discovered air conditioning on our last stay in August which was long overdue and a major delight. You really can’t go wrong with this chain, so please check them out when visiting the UK.
