American Airlines Introduces New Amenity Kits
In mid-January, American Airlines announced that the airline would introduce new amenity kits in 2017. Now, American Airlines is in the process of rolling those new amenity kits out on select flights. Passengers traveling in International First Class and Long-haul Business Class, as well as passengers on select transcontinental routes in First Class and Business Class, will be able to take advantage of these new amenity kits. Premium Economy passengers will receive an amenity kit when the product launches later this year. However, an updated Premium Economy amenity kit was not released.
These new amenity kits come just a year after American rolled out Cole Haan amenity kits with new amenities from CO Bigelow and Clark’s Botanicals.
American’s newest line of amenity kits will still be designed by Cole Haan, however, feature a new design and new color schemes. The amenities found in the newly designed amenity kits will remain the same as in previous kits. Additionally, new in-flight pajamas were introduced alongside the amenity kits. The pajamas are available to passengers traveling in International First Class as well as Business Class passengers on select ultra long-haul flights to Asia.
Here’s a look at American Airlines’ new amenity kits.
International First Class
Passengers traveling in international first class will receive a pouch-like amenity kit with 3LAB products. 3LAB amenities often retail for $45 for a 3oz sample with full sized products often costing well over $100. Other amenities include; a dental kit, Bose headset earbud protectors, ear plugs, sleeping mask, socks, tissues, and a pen. Passengers also receive a coupon for 3LAB products.
Long-Haul Business Class
Passengers traveling in long-haul business class will receive a traditional amenity kit with CO Bigelow skincare products. CO Bigelow is a fantastic independent apothecary in New York City. American’s in-flight lavatories now feature CO Bigelow handsoap. Other amenities include; a dental kit, Bose headset earbud protectors, ear plugs, sleeping mask, socks, tissues, and a pen. Passengers also receive a coupon for CO Bigelow products.
Transcontinental First Class
Passengers traveling in transcontinental first class will receive a pouch-like amenity kit similar to international first class, however, smaller in size. Clark’s Botanicals skincare products will be featured in the transcon first class amenity kit. Additional amenities include; a dental kit, ear plugs, sleeping mask, socks, and tissues.
Transcontinental Business Class
Passengers traveling in transcontinental business class will receive an amenity kit similar to international business class, however, smaller in size. CO Bigelow skincare products will be featured in the transcon business class amenity kit. Additional amenities include; a dental kit, ear plugs, sleeping mask, socks, and tissues.
Many of these routes that feature amenity kits should already be catered with the new amenity kits. On my most recent flight in international business class, I did not receive the new amenity kits. Certain routes will be less likely to see these new amenity kits. However, American has stated that the airline hopes to complete the introduction of these new amenity kits by mid-February.
American’s new amenity kits are a minor step up from what was already a fantastic product. The new designs and color schemes are much more luxurious and will make American’s premium service seem just a little more premium. 3LAB, CO Bigelow, and Clark’s Botanicals are all great brands, and their on-going partnership with American shows the airline’s commitment to improving onboard service. Whether or not American Airlines completes the roll-out of these new amenity kits in a timely fashion is another story.
What do you think about the newly designed amenity kits? Were they on your most recent flight?
