British Airways will start flying from London Heathrow to Nashville from May 2017. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner will operate the service which is the only direct flight between Europe and the capital of Tennessee.

Rumours of the new five times weekly service have been around for a little while so it is great to see this confirmed. Flights will operate on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Kings Of Leon From Nashville

Hailing from Nashville, Kings of Leon have created a small video in conjunction with the launch for British Airways. The band members mention how convenient it will be to fly direct and not have to endure a layover.

I think it is pretty cool and I can relate to the fact that a layover is best avoided. I really like to fly but I would rather fly direct than via London Heathrow for a lot of the places I go. It’s just so much easier!

Other US Route News

It’s not just Nashville feeling the love. Both Philadelphia and Phoenix are going to increase from daily flights to services 10 times per week. Philadelphia will see new flights on Monday, Friday and Sunday while Phoenix will see theirs on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.

Chicago is also seeing an increase with one of the two daily services being upgraded to the Airbus A380. These flights are currently served with Boeing 747-400 aircraft so the switch to the even larger Airbus is notable.

Overall Thoughts

It is excellent to see even more US destinations opening for British Airways. Nashville is a great addition to the network which has also seen New Orleans, Fort Lauderdale and Oakland added this year. The airline is promising a major investment in their Club World product with the emphasis being on new catering and sleep. New seats are due at the end of the decade.
