This week, Hyatt  opened the second Hyatt Place in Mexico, helping the chain top the 200-location mark and bolstering the chain’s growth in Mexico and around the world.

According to Hyatt’s Q2 earnings documents, there are 203 Hyatt Place locations as of June 30, 11 more than the same time a year ago. The company’s second-largest chain is Hyatt Regency, with 150 locations as of June 30.

The opening of the Hyatt Place La Paz in Baja California Sur, Mexico, comes eight months after the Hyatt Place Los Cabos became the chain’s first hotel to open its doors in Mexico.

“We believe Hyatt Place La Paz will bring a new standard to the area and will provide a perfect mix of style, service and amenities that will exceed guest expectations,” Myles McGourty, a senior executive for Hyatt’s Latin America & Caribbean division, said in a statement. The general manager is Francisco Hernandez.

More of these limited-service properties will open in Mexico in destinations such as Tijuana and Ciudad del Carmen, and others are under development in Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and Brazil.

Hyatt Place is Hyatt’s answer to Courtyard by Marriott and Hilton Garden Inn.
