Introduction

The Park Hyatt Mallorca is a 142 room luxury retreat far removed from the busy city of Palma de Mallorca located in the northeast of the island of Mallorca, Spain.  Its location is set in a serene valley surrounded by nature and designed to resemble a traditional Mallorquin hilltop village.  While not located on the beach like other resorts on the island, the Park Hyatt Mallorca offers a peaceful respite amongst nature while still being only a short drive away from some of the best beaches i’ve ever seen.  Moreover, the resort clearly spared no expense on its magnificent property with glorious architecture and landscaping in all directions.  For those looking to just relax and eat some great food, this place is hard to beat.

Booking (5/5)

The cost of this hotel during peak season could be quite pricey starting from around $600 USD per night in the summer.  Thankfully, this hotel is only a category 5 hotel which significantly can reduce the cost of the stay.  I was able book the points plus cash rate of 10,000 points plus $125 USD and also apply a suite upgrade certificate.  Great deal considering suites go for $1,700 USD in the summer.

Check-in was swift.  As soon as I pulled up, the valet was ready to take the vehicle and bags were loaded into a golf cart almost instantly.  Receptionist was friendly and enthusiastic about tell me all about the resort.  Once keys were received, the golf cart was ready to take us to the room.

Location (5/5)

For somebody that wants seclusion, peace, and quiet with beautiful beaches nearby, this place is perfect!  There are many beaches a short drive away including some a bit further requiring some dirt road travel, but with only a hand full of people around.  There is also an awesome huge cave nearby that holds tours with tons of stalactites and stalagmites.

Even though the hotel is located 75kms away from Palma Mallorca International Airport (PMI), its no problem since car rentals are very cheap and the drive up to the location is wonderful.  Renting a vehicle on this island is a must if you want to see all the diverse gorgeous landscapes across the island.  Parts of Mallorca look like a tropical Yosemite.

Property (5/5)

The grounds of the Park Hyatt Mallorca are one of the most impressive I have every seen.  I can’t imagine the cost and level of detail required to construct and design the place.  In all directions there is beautiful architecture, landscaping, olive trees, grapevines, lavender, and lime trees with towering mountains in the backdrop.  I was also impressed by the use of limestone materials which blended in to the natural geology of the island.

Room (5/5)

The suite was huge with light colored interior and beautiful furniture and artwork.  There was a dining room, living room, two desks, large private patio, and huge bathroom.  This for sure was the largest room i’ve ever booked in Europe.

Food (5/5)

Considering you are held a bit captive, in that you’ll need to take a drive to eat elsewhere, the cost of the food wasn’t too over priced.  Also, there were several places to eat including Majorcan cuisine, asian fusion, bistro cafe, tapas bar, and a poolside bar.  The breakfast had the most extensive spread of food i’ve ever seen and had plenty of options made to order as well.  Perfect way to start the day as the sun rises over the mountains.

Service(5/5)

Staff was well trained, professional and on top of everything.  I was impressed at how as soon as I pulled up in the car, everyone sprung into action.  I was also appreciative of the free ice cold water the valet put in the car every time I picked up the vehicle.

Gym (3/5)

The gym had plenty of trend mills aerobic machines.  However, a few more weight lifting machines could have been better.  Also, the place isn’t monitored by staff so a group of young children wondered in and started using the machines as a jungle gym and starting playing and screaming like a bunch of freaks.

 Conclusion

In conclusion the Park Hyatt Mallorca was one of the best resort stays I have every had.  The relaxing mix of mountains, nature, and Mallorquin hilltop ambiance was perfect for unwinding.  The location where near many pristine azure beaches and the rooms were larger than most place you find in Europe.  The food, while a bit pricey, was delicious and had a plethora of options.   I certainly hope to visit this unique location again.
