I’ve never been a fan of long lines. Whether it’s sitting in traffic, waiting in a cinema line that wraps around a building or queueing up in serpentine airport security lines. It just seems like a huge waste of precious time.

That’s why apps like Waze are so popular. They community based GPS navigation app can save you time with live alerts on traffic and road conditions, driving directions, car accidents, police presence, hazards and more.  But why should these time-saving apps be just for the road?

MiFlight is a useful travel app that can help you save time.

Airport “Appiness” with MiFlight

You’ll find a little airport “APPiness” with MiFlight™, a crowd-sourced app to help you better negotiate those irritating airline security queues.

Airport check-in can take hours, if you’re unlucky. Just ask Nancy Baum Schachtel of Ohio, who found that out on a recent trip to Dubrovnik. She arrived at Brussels Airport in plenty of time of for her flight, or so she thought. It was a three-hour wait on that particular morning!

“The line was so long at the ticket counter, to try to make the flight, I had to cut in front of everyone at TSA and Immigration, and I did,” she said.

Share your wait times with the easy-to-use app features. You’ll be helping your fellow travellers.

Save precious time

#MiFlight touts itself as a time saver. The handy travel app lets users access waiting times for airport security checkpoints.

Download MiFlight. It’s free, although some features require in-app purchases. Just tap in the code for your departure airport, choose your terminal and gate, and you’ll get a live update on how long the wait is expected to be.

There are more than 100 international airports featured and more than 100 of the top airports in the U.S. More airports are being added. Unfortunately, my hometown airport in Belgium is still on the to-be-added list.

MiFlight Features

The app features waiting times in bold numerals. Click on an icon and you’ll see a map of the airline terminal and gate locations. You can easily enter your waiting time with a few clicks and share the information with other MiFlight users and send details via Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, Instagram or email.

The security line moved swiftly at Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris this morning.

What’s the Wait?

If you’re traveling from Charles De Gaulle Airport’s international terminal in Paris today, you can whisk your way through the security line in just five minutes.

The wait at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport and Chicago O’Hare International was 35 minutes. Not bad if you consider TSA agents are working without pay during the partial US Government shut down. A shout out to all the hard-working TSA agents!

Give MiFlight a try and let us know what you think. Remember, the app is only as good as the information that is posted, so be sure to gauge times as estimates. And take that extra time you gain to do something fun! Happy travels!
