British Airways operate a Galleries First Class lounge at London Heathrow Terminal 5. While the lounge is lacking things such as enough charging points for all guests, it does have a decent selection of food available.

My favourite part is the Champagne bar, because as regular readers will know, I am partial to the odd glass of bubbles. Here is a short run down of what is on offer in July 2017.

A Variety of Bubbles

Henriot is the Champagne currently being served in the British Airways First Class lounge. Much to my surprise there was another type of bubbles on offer when I arrived on my last visit.

A quick Google search revealed the Marion Bosser to be made by an all female team of Bernadette Marion-Bosser and her young daughter Elodie. The Champagne comes from a small vineyard in Hautvillers, the home of Dom Perignon. It retails for around $60 a bottle.

I find this Champagne to be a little sweeter than I am used to and I thought it quite nice. When I went back, it was all Henriot again so I thought myself lucky to get to try something else.

Later on I noticed another new bottle of bubbles, the Palmer & Co, along with more Marion Bosser. This is quite unusual and when I inquired about this I was told there is a supply issue with the Henriot. The Palmer & Co is quite nice too and retails at around £30 a bottle.

How About The Food?

There is an entire self-service buffet at the lounge but my favourite part is to order from the menu. The dining tables are alongside the high traffic area between the lounge and the food so it is always quite busy.

What is good about this is that people are disinclined to linger. The bad thing is that anyone passing can watch you eat. Either way, it is what it is and the food is quite nice.

A popular option on the menu is the BA burger which is always there for that very reason. There is usually a curry and generally I order that as I like to have something with a bit of spice. The ice cream is also always good.

The people who restock and clean are also the people who you can order from. You generally need to flag someone down who is passing by so it is not proper table service as such. Still, it is effective if a little rough.

Overall Thoughts

Any lounge that features self-service bubbles is a winner in my book. There is always plenty of Champagne in the British Airways Galleries First Lounge at London Heathrow which you would expect when they have a Champagne bar.

There are a plethora of dining options available and while I do restrict myself to the table service, the buffet contains plenty on offer for those on the go.
