Delta won’t be alone as a revenue based program in 2015. United MileagePlus has posted updates to their program effective March 1, 2015, that appear to be a near carbon copy of Delta’s changes.
Here’s how you’ll earn MileagePlus miles in 2015. Depending on how much you spend on your ticket, the miles you collect will be awarded with this multiplier.
Apparently, class of service bonuses will still apply and elite status earning will still be the same as today. I’ll follow up with some more thoughts later today. In the meantime, you can see the changes for yourself at mileageplusupdates.com.

Why am I still a 1k with United? I can’t even answer that question. I have continued to be very loyal to United over the years, even with all of the new cutbacks and customer “unfriendly” policies.. To be honest, I would much rather be a Diamond on Delta now, at least they have improved their service. The only thing UA had going for it was the strength of Mileage Plus.. While I’ve hoped (still do) that American does this in a different way, I’m losing sight of how they might do that.
Guess we all knew that this would be coming, but the reality still hurts. Almost guaranteed that the new American will follow suit.
