American Airlines Miami-Lima Business Class Report

Dear Friends, Following a quick trip to Miami, I planned to fly to Lima aboard the new American Airlines Boeing 767-300ER Business Class Cabin. As part of the CIP (Cabin Improvement Program) American renovated their seats in the Business Class section of these classic ”birds”. The new seats features lie flat comfort, more personal space and a big table to work or eat during the flight. Inflight entertainment is still offered via a Galaxy 4 Tab with many movies and TV series to select at your own discretion. THE FLIGHT: AA 917 KMIA-SPJC  STD: 1625  STA: 2105  Flight Time:...

American Airlines New Premium Economy Product Outlook

Background A few days ago, I came across with the news of the recent introduction by American Airlines (AA) of their new Premium Economy (W) product which will be launched with the new fleet of Boeing 787-9’s that will be received by the American carrier later this year. I’ve had a long standing relationship with AA since 1995 when I first joined the AAdvantage program and started flying with them almost every six months from Lima to Miami for holidays on their classic Airbus A-300’s and Boeing 757’s. Having said that, I am aware of the up and downs...

Flight Report: United Business First Lima-Houston

BACKGROUND After some days of eating, enjoying the beautiful Ocean and drinking many Pisco Sours in Lima, it was time to return up North with United Airlines. The last time I tried United was probably in 2012, immediately after the merger with Continental Airlines, United took over the Houston-Lima flight with their Domestic configuration Boeing 767-300. Due competition with the far superior products offered by Delta, AirCanada, American Airlines and LanPeru, United had to step up their offer and switch Lima to their Business First product on both Newark-Lima and Houston-Lima flights. A bit off topic, United had the...

Airport Security in Question: Bags Being Opened and Property Stolen

How unpleasant can it be to arrive to your destination and discover that your bag was opened and some of your valuables are missing? To be honest, not very pleasant. A few days ago after a quick trip to Barcelona, I took advantage of some spare Avios to fly in Business Class with Iberia to Madrid and a transit (with a separate ticket) with LATAM Airlines from Madrid to Frankfurt on the many times reported service aboard their Flagship Boeing 787. After arriving in Madrid T4, I proceeded directly to the Velasquez Lounge as my bag was checked in...

Welcome to your Executive Pilot!

Dear Friends, Before starting to publish opinions, flight reports, industry trends and general aviation topics with you, I wanted to give you a short introduction so you can know a bit more about myself and my background. As the title of my blog states ”The Executive Pilot”, I am first of all indeed an airline pilot. Graduated in 2001 as a Commercial Pilot in Florida I earned my first flying experience aboard a Boeing 737-200 in Peru back in 2002. The first airline that took me for training was the now defunct carrier AeroContinente (N6/ACQ). After that enriching experience...
